MetisLooks ("we", "our", "us") operates the MetisLooks mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the App.

By using MetisLooks, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and password (stored securely via Supabase Auth). You may optionally provide a bio and avatar image.

Content you upload: Photos and videos you upload to MetisLooks, along with captions, AI prompts, model names, tags, and other metadata you provide. All uploaded content must be AI-generated.

Usage data: We may collect basic usage information such as posts viewed, likes, and reports submitted. We do not track your location or collect device identifiers for advertising.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide, operate, and maintain the App
To create and manage your account
To display your content (posts, profile) to other users
To process likes, reports, and moderation actions
To communicate with you about your account (e.g. password reset emails)
To enforce our Terms of Service and Content Policy (AI-only content)

3. Data Storage and Security

Your account data and metadata are stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL database hosted in the cloud). Media files (photos, videos, avatars) are stored in Cloudflare R2 object storage and served via Cloudflare's CDN.

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication (JWT), and row-level security policies on our database. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:

Service providers: Supabase (auth and database), Cloudflare (media storage and delivery) — these providers process data on our behalf under their respective privacy policies.
Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or government request applicable in India or the United States.
Safety: To protect the rights, safety, or property of MetisLooks, our users, or the public.

5. Your Rights

Access: You can view your profile and uploaded content at any time in the App.
Correction: You can update your username, bio, and avatar through your profile settings.
Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data (posts, media, likes, reports) from the Settings screen in the App. Account deletion is irreversible and is processed immediately.
Data portability: You may request a copy of your data by contacting us at the email below.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all your data — including your profile, posts, media files, likes, and reports — is permanently deleted from our systems. Orphaned media files in storage (if any) are periodically cleaned up.

Reports submitted by other users about your content may be retained in anonymized form for moderation records.

7. Children's Privacy and Child Safety

MetisLooks is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE) Policy: MetisLooks has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material (CSAM), including AI-generated CSAM. We actively prohibit the creation, distribution, or storage of any content that sexually exploits or endangers minors. Any such content discovered on our platform will be immediately removed and reported to the appropriate authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). Users who upload such content will be permanently banned and reported to law enforcement. If you encounter content that may constitute CSAM or child exploitation, please report it immediately using the in-app Report button or by emailing metislooks@gmail.com.

8. AI-Generated Content Disclosure

MetisLooks is a platform exclusively for AI-generated content. All uploads are labeled as AI-generated with a two-tier verification system:

Metadata we scan at upload time:

EXIF tags (Software, ImageDescription, Artist, UserComment)
XMP fields (CreatorTool, IPTC AISystemUsed, AIPromptInformation, DigitalSourceType)
C2PA / Content Credentials (caBX chunks, JUMBF/APP11 markers)
PNG text chunks (tEXt, iTXt parameters, workflow data)
WebP RIFF EXIF/XMP chunks, MP4/MOV XMP and C2PA boxes
JPEG COM (comment) markers

This metadata is read locally on your device during upload and is not transmitted to our servers. Only the result — the detected AI tool name and whether verification succeeded — is stored.

What we store and display:

ai_verified — whether AI generation proof was found in the file metadata.
ai_tool — the name of the detected or self-declared AI tool (e.g. "DALL-E", "Midjourney").
ai_source — how the AI origin was determined: "metadata" (auto-detected, shown as a green shield) or "self_declared" (user-selected, shown as a purple shield).

This information is publicly visible on your posts to help other users understand the origin and authenticity of AI-generated content on the platform. For full details on enforcement differences between tiers, see Section 3a of our Terms of Service.

9. International Users

MetisLooks is operated from India and serves users in India and the United States. By using the App, you consent to the transfer and processing of your data in accordance with this policy. We comply with applicable data protection laws in both India (Information Technology Act, 2000 and IT Rules) and the United States.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
